How to Make a Pumpkin Succulent Garden Planter
Halloween has come and gone, and you’re probably left with all of these little mini pumpkins and wondering what to do with them. Keep the fall festivities going by up-cycling those pumpkins and create a succulent garden planter for your home. Here’s what you need and how to get started:
Supplies
Pumpkins
Various types of succulents
Soil
Gardening charcoal (from craft stores or any gardening store)
Knife
Spoon or another tool to scoop out the seeds
Instructions
First, cut off the top of the pumpkin.
Scoop out the seeds and scrape the inside clean. Set the seeds aside in a bowl to roast for a tasty snack later.
Put gardening charcoal in the bottom of the pumpkin for drainage and to increase the longevity of the succulents. Fill the cavity with soil to the top, forming a small mound at the opening.
Carefully place and plug in the roots of varying succulents into the soil. It’s best to bunch the plants close to the center, adding to the sides as you continue, as you would for a bouquet of flowers.
Water sparingly. Succulents don’t need that much water.
